María Yuryevna Sharapova (ruso: Мария Шарапова; n. 19 de abril de 1987) es una tenista y modelo profesional rusa nacida en Nyagan, Siberia. Sus padres, que son originalmente de Gomel, Bielorrusia, emigraron a Rusia en 1986 por temor a que la hija que estaba por nacer sufriera algún trastorno tras el Accidente de Chernóbil, ocurrido a 300 km de su hogar. Sharapova es actualmente número 4 del mundo a 1965 puntos de la número 1, Justine Henin. Ya fue numero 1 en 2005 y a comienzos de 2007.
